Wednesday, October 9th, we are in Bryce Pioneer Village motel in the small town of Tropic. The night was a little chilly, but the blankets were warm enough to not perceive that cold out of bed. Leaving to go have breakfast, we always see the break between the urban side and the wild side of the road ... And the colors are always beautiful:

A quick breakfast of toast and the usual coffee. we learn that there was a mudslide a week ago and the owner of the motel tells us that it is God who sent this disaster to prepare for the coming of the ark ( noah probably... ). We are in Utah and my first contact with the indigenous prepare me for the afternoon and very patriotic believers.
Moreover, this story made me think a bit... and I had the impression ( confirmed by other events and anecdotes during this report ) a portion of American believers are quite... leaves to be a complete fatalism (ie god who did everything, it's normal if someone dies, it is normal if there's a problem, etc...) and I found it for my part, disturbing and quite absurd... but it's only my opinion ( I'm not big on religion. I'm not saying that god does not exist (or gods do not exist) but... i'm still waiting for proof. I'm not called Thomas for nothing hahaha !). Meanwhile, two small pictures of our Motel and its immediate decorations :

The park of the day is still closed, we can't visit... except that our guide found a way. Thanks to a local farmer, we can ride on his land to visit Bryce Canyon!
The scrolls road, the trip takes a little time...

The wind was not particularly hot, it is with joy that we return to the shelter in the bus. And again on the road, but not for long: we arrive at Bryce Canyon.

We are at the top of Bryce Canyon, a little over the altitude of 2'700m, oxygen is rarefied and we can feel it. It blows a strong wind raises clouds of ocher dust. But the scenery is worth it!
30km long and between 2 and 10km wide. The edges of the canyon peak at 2'778m while its lowest point is some 760m below: 2'018m. The area looks like a desert, but yet there is -30°C in winter (and +30 ° C in summer). This is actually a semi-arid zone, but its high altitude considerably lower temperature. Erosion has created the Hoodoos, they are kind of rock towers whose head is made of hard rock while his body is soft rock.

After buzzing a little on the brink (and took some photos) I go back to the bus. Definitely, it's much better inside. On our way to lunch but before... Photo stop! We stop at an arch and Red Canyon. It looks like a Thai temple.

After a delicious meal (my first real American burger yum!) We have a little time to go to the trading post and right next to the grocery store. There are some cool stuff that will complete my collection of souvenirs. Then back on the bus and towards Saint-Georges.

During the trip, Mark tells us that we go to great mormon temple of St. George and tells us several things about this religion. Already, the full name is not ''Mormon'' but ''The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints''. They are a little over 16 million Mormons in the world, scattered throughout, including 6.6 million in the usa (considered the 4th Christian religion in this country). He also explains that they always find a way to tell you their stories, no matter your country and this very quickly. They are also known to be very talented in genealogical research (that is a fact !).
And indeed, the time that the bus station, a young woman waiting for us, she came in Lyon, France. I talked with Mark and he told me that there was nothing, he had not called. It is a bit disturbing though...
This young woman presents us around the Great Mormon but not the temple templs itself, just the structures goshawks because we are not ''clean'' morally to visit the temple (the temple is only open to Mormons ).

Back to the bus after this visit and bonus book clipboard and a big fat troll level 8 (I'm ugly hahaha).
On the road, we need to stop some kind of border crossing between the state of Utah and Nevada to control the papers of the bus. In front of us passed some trucks... with 3 trailers !

Back on the road and we go inside the gorges of the canyon of the Virgin River. For the anecdote, the road is laid on a wooden structure.
