From January 8 to 25, I returned to Geneva for work in chemistry and see some of my friends (I wanted to see more, but time failed me). Thus, from Friday evening to 15 out of
17 job until Sunday evening, I was invited for the weekend with my best friend, Mother Castor. During this weekend, we did a lot of things, including an outing
to Salève when it was snowing! It is this latter episode that will be the subject of this report. For the little information I hesitated to put this in batch
of photos of lifes and landscapes, but I found more fun to put it in this form.
On Friday morning, going to work, there was already a lot of snow that seemed blue in the morning. Highly night I see my dear Castor.
For this Sunday 17, looking out the window at breakfast, we see the snow fall amounts in beautiful, with nearly 5cm already on the ground.
All that snow gives damn want to go jump in, too, after eating lunch we decide to go to the mountains to enjoy (and why not make a digestive walk the way?). After a
meal of salad, chicken curry and a pink apple for dessert, we dress warmly and towards the mountain!
We go to the Salève, one of five mountains constituents Geneva basin. The Salève is composed of 3 parts: the small Salève, the great grand Piton Salève and
culminating at 1'379m. We can go to the top of the Salève by road and then through the cable! For us it will be by car this time! Fortunately the driver is
talented and handles very well in the snowy roads pins. We come next to a Tibetan monastery where we park and hop, starting the walk! The snow is thick and
very pleasant to walk in. The path begins in the monastery prayer flags Shedrub Choekhor Ling.
The track in the snow goes either along the road or in the undergrowth with branches laden with snow. Of course, we go under the branches with the risk of taking a snow pack on the head !
Here we are on the shelf Salève where the observatory is located, parking, a restaurant and a camping area. But few people saw the amount of snow !
Here, we also took the opportunity to take a picture of us in the middle of all this snow (becaufe yes, do a self-portrait with the camera, it's done. And without falling into this ''Selfy'' mode
that are busy with their cell phone.).
After this break, we head to the place called the Grange Gaby, always by the small paths under the trees. There are not so many that busy for a Sunday, as we walk
quietly, enjoying the quiet and not too cold biting (despite some gusts of wind).
We emerge on the top of the cliff, the view is very beautiful, just a shame he does gray. In wanting to take a picture closer to the edge, beside prayer flags, I do have and I
just slipped in the snow, fortunately without harm or breakage. But 2m from the edge, I'm a scare! (And not to me elsewhere.)
Again under the trees and finally we came earlier in that, in the summer should be a field. Walking is difficult, we have knee-deep snow, heavy hiking
boots sinking to the frozen ground.
We continue to move forward, but it tires, as we decide to walk on the road. But after a while, we decided to turn around at some point, the walk starting to get a
little long. And walk in the snow is not the easiest walk it !
The return is a little faster, we are descending.
The way back is done quietly, we're back to the car and then back home to get warm.
Upon leaving and take the way back to Versoix, emotion is great. More than a year without being seen, it leaves traces and I (we) have emptied some tissues packets.
