Saturday June 26, early departure for Paris. A few days in the capital with my sister to visit the Musée de l'Homme with friends and especially Eurodisney!
And to start, here is the video of the report, rather focused on a light report oriented on Eurodisney:
For the trip, the weather is nice, I could enjoy the scenery! In addition to not having many people in the passenger car.
When we arrive, we will go for a walk and do some small shopping and lots of fun with the cats. The evening rest in front of a Ghibli.
The next day, we find part of the order of the Phoenix, a group of friends from JDR, in front of the national museum of natural history and paleontology. We planned to go, but due to a
organizational mess, Bibi and I don't have our ticket and we can't buy it on site (because of the crowds and the covid). So we decide to visit the gallery of evolution
since we are close. But second mess, the site actually corresponds to the Musée de l'Homme... well... at least we have our tickets, so head for the Musée de l'Homme. But question: Where is it?
A little walk, 2 metros, and here we are finally!
Originally founded in 1882 and named the Trocadero Museum of Ethnography, it then moved to the Palais de Chaillot in 1937 where it took its name from the Musée de l'Homme. Covering an area of 16,000m², the museum leads us to ask ourselves
3 questions that men have often asked themselves: Who am I, where do I come from and where am I going?
The museum tries to answer it from the point of view of the location of man in the realm of the living, in his history, his ethnographic and cultural evolution throughout the world and over time.
We start with a bit of anatomy, wax mannequins, skulls with holes. There is even the skull of Descartes!
A little further on, there is a space on the human relationship to death: a superb tarot, a Chachapoya mummy, an alcove on death in Central American culture, Mexican skulls
and many more things.
Right after that we have a whole plethora of human busts from around the world with a map showing where each one is from (each bust also has a small explanatory plaque).
Right behind, there are casts of Cro-Magnon, Australopithecus and even Lucy's skeleton! There is also the development of the first stone and flint tools.
At the end of the downstairs room, we have several stuffed animals, including a goose in a very ''angry'' pose!
On the first floor, we have some ancient artifacts like venus or bone carvings:
Again skeletons with ornaments and perforated skulls (the art and the way of making trepanations). There is also a model of a tumulus.
A little later, there are animal skulls, some of which seem to come straight from a Lovecraftian story!
Then, we have several showcases with different plants discovered and cultivated by man around the world: wheat, barley, corn, etc... as well as livestock (cattle, sheep, bees, fish, etc.). ..).
A window immediately after shows different cellphone pouches depending on the region, with local designs. As well as a few anoraks (including one well decorated with small pearls!).
Further on there is a bus (no, not the Bang Bus Magique) decorated in every way, serving as a Senegalese Rapid Car:
On the side of the bus, there is a reconstructed Mongolian yurt with its interior.
The evolution of Senegalese amulets, at the beginning with natural products, to end with waste used as bases.
Last part of the museum: corrections, prostheses and exoskeletons.
From glasses, eyeglasses and magnifying glasses, to wooden legs and hooks, clamps, and various prostheses, we also go through the so-called ''improvers'' of memory, sexual performance,
of muscle gain. To end with finer technologies of exoskeletons and 3D prints. Even references to a potential future such as Inspector Gadget, C3PO or Iron-man.
At the time of going out, we make a short photo stop for the Eiffel Tower, before trying to find a nice bar. Unfortunately, without much success. We end up separating and returning home through the subway.
Back at the apartment at Bibi, we decide to have a pizza party - Ghibli!
Being hungry, we each take a large pizza, for Bibi it's a Hypnotika (with chicken, mergez, fresh cream, mozzarella and tomato) and for me a 5 cheese (cheese is life!).
Monday 28, we leave early after having prepared our packed lunch for lunch. We're making sandwiches! The road is going well and of course we sing disney songs.
And finally, in the distance, we see the entrance!
The car parks are large, very large, and being expanded when we pass by. To find their way around, they are divided into alphabetical sections, with the associated characters (Ariel for A for example).
There is a bit of a queue to enter the park and we take our troubles patiently, doing twists and turns in front of the entrances to the different parks (like disney studio for example). But it's nice
and we are like kids here. Especially me coming here for the first time!
We pass the entrance to the base park of eurodisney and we are greeted by a song sung by the characters of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Tic, Tac and Pluto (well, especially
the people in the costumes, who are mostly dancing their best and waving at everyone).
We are at the beginning of the park, in ''Main street USA'', with a very idealized American hometown atmosphere. Several characters pose on their assigned locations. There are lots of small shops and stalls selling Disney products (stuffed animals, mugs, etc.)
but it's quite expensive, and the choice of stuffed animals is rather limited (mickey, stitch, 2-3 other characters and that's about all... I find it sad given the quantity of emblematic disney characters
of available).
On our right, bibi shows me a steampunk/art-deco way, the place is nice, the pubs and the decorations are funny too!
We have thus identified our lunch spot. In the meantime, back to the warm sun and the view from the center of main street on the famous castle of disney's sleeping beauty.
And a bit of history before going any further:
Opened in 1992, the park then named Eurodisney (then disneyland paris) develops over an area of more than 20km²!
It currently has 2 parks (the basic eurodisney park and the disney studio park), 6 hotels, the disney village and a plethora of shops and restaurants/bars.
Originally, Walt Disney had opened a first park in California in 1955, then a second in Florida in 1971, a third was born in Tokyo in 1983.
The walt disney company then wants to set up in europe. spain and france are struggling to offer sites to implement the new park. But because of political dissension
and in the opinion of the French site search team, the Spaniards are well ahead. But following a takeover and the appointment of a single representative, the French team ended up
prevail. Basically offering 3 sites: one in the Ardèche, one in the Var and the third at its current location in Marnes-la-Vallée, it is the latter that has been chosen. And 15 billion francs (2.3 billion euros)
later, the park is born.
In the park, there are plenty of places where the characters strike a pose. Bibi having decided to make a photo collection of them, I help her as best as I can to photograph them... Sometimes even
is she also in the photo!
For the first attraction, we are heading to adventureland to do the indiana jones attraction. For this, we go through frontierland and its far-west atmosphere (with, through
foliage, the space mountain firing column).
To get to the entrance to the Indiana Jones attraction, we have to twist and turn through a recreation of the jungle and very movie-themed explorer camps.
For the Indiana Jones attraction, I am told to be careful with the gopro and my hat. I take care of fixing the two well on me (the gopro is held in the hand with a strap, the hat asa
jugular) and we are put in the front in order to be able to film as well as possible. The attraction is rather short, but very nice, it's one of my two favorites of the day!
We then leave quietly to go in the direction of Space Mountain. We pass for this through the island of adventureland with its wrecks and its pirate ship:
Then passing through fantasyland, with buildings that I found original and pretty, there I was in the middle of a fairy tale!
We pass in front of a somewhat unusual castle, from which I hear a ticking sound, it's ''a small world'', but we'll come back to that later! Let's continue in the direction of space mountain!
Here we are finally!
Space Mountain! Or rather ''hyperspace moutain'' of its current name.
Located in the discoveryland part of the park, the attraction opened in 1995, inaugurated by Buzz Aldrin (one of the first 2 humans to set foot on the lunar ground with Neil Armstrong in 1969, while their 3rd colleague Michael collins
was in charge of the encounter module in lunar orbit).
Interior and exterior decorative elements are reminiscent of Jules Verne's book: From the Earth to the Moon. Which was also the first name of the attraction: Space moutain, from the earth to the moon.
There is a relatively short queue compared to usual (we will still wait more than an hour and a half!), which allows us to chat, make fools and enjoy the decorative elements.
Including the Nautilus from the disney film 20,000 leagues under the sea, from the eponymous novel by Jules Verne again!
The attraction is a 1km long indoor roller coaster. It lasts just over 2min30, with a top speed of just over 75km/h!
Since it's indoors and mostly in the dark with the attraction's current Star Wars theme, so I won't be filming the ride. And it's not so bad. I had my hat tied with it
his chinstrap and my glasses attached by a braid of my making, everything would have ended up flying if it hadn't been for these ties. My glasses have stolen behind my head, the hat too, and the mask has half me
face because of the wind! We were shaken in all directions, it's the first time that I've shit myself so much on an attraction, yet I like it!
We end up going out, our stomachs a little smeared and we decide to ask ourselves a little before going to eat near the entrance to the park. I take this opportunity to take some photos:
Bibi poses for a selfie in front of Eve and Wall-e, it's a cartoon that I find nice, I also photograph the characters tenderly holding hands.
We end up going back to the entrance, in the steampunk-style gallery, to eat our lunch sandwiches. Lots of strong emotions this morning! As a result, we decide, after this meal break,
to spend the afternoon on quieter attractions. A beginning of migraine starting to dawn for me.
Back to fantasyland where we do a little visit and the two small rapid attractions of snow white and pinocchio. Where we'll spend more time laughing, nicely, at the attractions, than to enjoy them calmly.
We then leave for a quiet little cruise through models of different Disney animated films. As Dumbo's train passes above us, on the heights. The same train as
we will take right after, taking advantage of another point of view of this little adventure between the models. These are full of details!
We then take a short snack break with an ice cream and a drink (we ran out of water, it was hotter than expected, and my migraine is still present). I won't say anything about the prices
absolutely extortionate, but the ice cream was good.
Being seated just in front of a small world, Bibi offers me to go there as the last attraction of the day, then we will finish visiting fantasyland and it will be time to go home. She warns me that attraction
is special. Already because the music is quite well known and remains in the head, especially since it runs throughout the attraction.
That is...
In the end, we will barely have a big quarter-hour queue to do. The music is already entering our brains, but I like it.
On the other hand, once the attraction begins, I feel like I've gradually lost my brain along the way. The attraction will last about 20 minutes, with permanent visual delirium. As the audio passes
by a majority of the languages of the world. In the end, it's special, but I had so much fun, it's my favorite attraction!
But all good things must come to an end and this attraction is no exception, even though I filmed almost everything!
Direction now the end of the visit to fantasyland with its enchanting scenery. It even seems that you can see a dragon under Cinderella's castle... unfortunately the latter is not accessible due to renovation work.
Damn... we'll have to come back... (and redo the attraction at small world!)
We see, among other things, the beanstalk, a statue of Cinderella and the Excalibur sword from the movie Merlin the Wizard.
It's getting late and we start heading for the exit, still taking our time to window shop and shop. Unfortunately, I can't find anything that interests me, and the prices are again expensive!
We leave the base park and Bibi takes me to disney village in order to have other shops and hope to find something to bring back to friends.
But again, not much interesting (and in any case, nothing really affordable). We end up all the same coming across a Lego shop, in which we rush.
Inside, there are lots of legos built, some of them are magnificent! I've flashed on a ship in a bottle all in lego, but the price stops me. If I had had the money on me, I would have probably cracked!
The visit draws to a close, and we go out through the front door. But we hope to come back for the second part of the park: the Disney studios!
We come home exhausted and we find the bed with pleasure after a good shower and a bottle of cider!
The next day I will have to go home to Brive. The report is over and I thank Bibi again for everything!
But especially for... it's a small small world! (now the song is in your head! Haha!)
