Monday, March 12, 2012: Today's top start reporting. We start by shopping for the week and then towards the Animal Park of Branféré and the small village
of Le Guerno. For starters, the video of the day:
The animal park Branféré of around 1000 animals from over 120 different species including 20 endangered species. In operation since 1965, the park
sits on 40 hectares and has many species of plants identified. The park also Nicolas Hulot school that teaches children about ecology and environmental
(animal and plant). On the site there is also a course in the trees (the Parcabout) and a large African plain cash ostriches, giraffes, zebras and other
animals of the savannah, all mixed.
The first animals of the park we see are pink flamingos near their pond. Both are currently squabbling while others are watching or take a nap.
We continue visiting the park, we see some monkeys but personally the wrong side, and I advance a little, taking pictures of sheep of ouessant I am surprised by the small carp
lake for sheep . One feature of this park is that there are almost no barriers. Small streams acting as ''border'' between different enclosures as often as
possible. After this little episode here I am on a point a little higher-order to take pictures of monkeys (Siamangs and Gibbons with white whiskers).
The following animals are rather particular. Llamas stand between some gigantic horns: Watussi oxen. Domestic cattle in Central Africa, it is considered
by the Maasai like a symbol of strength and courage. It has the largest horns of the animal kingdom, to 1.50 m!
Proceeding towards the spectacle of birds (which does not happen right now unfortunately) we meet Mother Goose trying to scratch his nose.
We will then see the Maras, large Patagonian rodent. They are about a hundred in semi-freedom in the park. They are found mainly around the castle in the company of Wallabies
and various birds of the park. The Maras can reach speeds of 60km/h.
Shortly after we hear some strange noises coming from the trees. Peacocks are both up there. I never thought it possible that peacocks can fly or climb
trees like that, especially since they are several meters above ground.
Continue a little further, there is a corner with questions and answers on panels, shame, some are damaged. You can see various types of construction for
the birds to adapt to a particular species. Far away in the garden of the castle you can see the Cranes from Japan to walk, probably in search of chubby
worms to eat.
We pass a huge plane weeping tree : 40m wide and 30m high! Came from the east (Kashmir), he is aged about 300 years, the house next door seems tiny !
The building of trainers is not far and there is also the aviary. A large cage in which birds are released and we walk inside. Next to it is the
cranes of paradise.
We visited here in red pandas (firefox). Cute little stuffed animals that we like to cuddle ... but in spite of everything of which are carnivors (even if this red pand don't eat meat) !
They are two to live in their area. Official Mascot software Mozilla Firefox, the similarity of the red fox with this animal and the literal
translation of the word'' Firefox'' ('' Fire'' fox in English) are they are often mistaken. But to show that it is small red pandas mentioned
the Mozilla Foundation, has adopted a pair of red pandas in December 2010. Red Pandas are an endangered species because of the reduction in its
natural habitat and poaching by her men (his poaching has been banned since 1960).
Right next to Red Pandas are otters ash. They are eating their fish greedily. These otters are from asia where some nations such as Malaysia have
a great friendship for them because of their temperament and peaceful behavior. This is the smallest species of otter: 80cm for 4 to 5 kg where a ''normal''
otter is 1.4 m and 12 to 15 kg. Greylag otters were once domesticated by Asian fishermen to catch fish. By Branféré, she catches it for themselves, and to
feast on before going to dry in the sun and the earth. Then spend a few hours under the sun to take a nap digestive, they have eaten the fish by about 1/8th
of their weight.
After enjoying the sight of otters eating, having fun and now resting in the sun, we continue the visit. We see far away antelopes cervicapre
therefore a long-horned male who spends like a prince while two others are fighting behind him. We then go on the other side of the castle
which we see here the old promenade:
We are now in the contact area. There we can cuddle some animals (especially biquettes). Just eat a little closer to home.
Next we come to the enclosure of reindeer and just alongside the maned wolves. And a little further to the Saïmiris and the Koala Jones who
watches from his perch-fungus.
We will walk with the wallabies a moment while the Koala Jones looks in the shade, on a quiet piece of wood. The Wallabies park, like the Maras are parole and we can
almost touch them. The wallabies are marsupials of the family (that are not marsupilami ...) like the kangaroos but smaller.
After the Wallabies, an unusual animal: the pygmy hippopotamus. A Marabout keeps him company.
The African plain is closed at this season, the only animals that we see are a ladybug and a robin.
We arrive on the last part of the park where there are several ponds which with a great white pelicans, curly pelicans and pelicans pink backpack. There is also cormorants.
In the sunshine of late afternoon we see the prairie dogs that play to get in and out of their holes (they are caving in to their burrows).
A final pond where we see black monkeys to rest. before proceeding to the last animal we see (except the Koala Jones got everywhere) of the day: Giraffe (I'm not sure her name is Sophie thereof).
Visiting the park is completed, we will have spent all afternoon. On the way back, a small stop at Le Guerno and his little church of Sainte-Anne. This church has a
pulpit outside (surely enjoy the beautiful weather together to give the mass ...).
The second day of reporting in Britain is over, tomorrow we will visit the city of Vannes. Previous pageNext page
