Saturday 8, waking at 9am to catch the 10:03 train station Cornavin in Geneva. Goal of the day: the small town of Eagle on the other
side of the lake. 1:30 ride later in the hollow of the Rhone valley, surrounded by the Alps (Massif Plantour that of Drapel) with the
highlights of the Dents du Midi (7 ''teeth'' of 3'114 to 3'257m height, spread over 3km long) and Binoculars: the largest peak at 2'215m
and small to 1'185m (the two peaks on the picture):
Just arrived, a group of cats is responsible for the reception (it is true that the area is quiet, they can walk without worry or too risky).
They look rather nice and quiet, although one of them looks very confident ... and we wonder what trick he can play us!
Northbound, the peak of Para and the Cape Monk seem to overhang the panel Leysin, then they are separated by a ten km:
Northwest is the neck of Tompey, now covered with a layer of snow
Back to Aigle Castle is located on the Avenue of the Reformed Church Cloister of Saint-Maurice. Dating back to the twelfth century, it was founded by
the monks of the Abbey of Saint-Maurice. The Protestant church is registered as a Swiss cultural monument of national importance.
Continuing the road, turn a corner, beyond the stone walls stands the castle of Aigle, drowned in the vineyards. Built in the twelfth century by the family of Saillon for the Savoy family. In 1457,
the Bernese attack and take the castle to block movements in the Rhone plain to the troops of the Duchy of Burgundy and the Duchy of Savoy. In 1798, the country became independent of Vaud and Bernese
withdraw. Leaving in 1804, the town of Aigle buy the castle and into hospital and court until 1832 and eventually make in 1971 the Museum of Vine and Wine.
A new view from the bottom of the castle on the mountain including binoculars (and on the left (to the left Binoculars): High Sex, the Linleu and Cornettes Bise). They humor the locals saw the names they
give to their mountains!
They call both their streets and alleys elsewhere! (While in passing through the road of Heaven, dogs watching passersby from above with a grumpy look.)
Thence by a small tower behind the houses, with view over the gardens and vineyards ...
Basically, an old wash house, dating from time immemorial, hosting turquoise waters and fresh mountain, allowing a perfect laundry and ... COIN COIN! Huh? A yellow rubber
duck appears! Pokeball Go! (Do not mind the koala ruining the keyboard to do anything ...)
Return via the village is done by passing under the various boardwalks connecting the houses above the street
The night fell, the report concludes night. Thank the city for introducing me to Eagle with its vineyards and castle, mountains and the rubber ducky!
