Wednesday, March 14, 2012: waking up early. Picnic in the cooler, go to Gravellic ! We join Patou brings us together with its Annex. Everyone aboard
the CatPat, his catamaran. Here already the map of our itinerary for the day:
Here's the video of the day to taste salty wind :
This morning, a little mist on the sea, but the weather looks set to be in the sun all day. We pass the island of the monks and we spend between the islands La Jument, Gavrini and Er Lannic
On this island, which is rather an island saw its small size, about 10m square. Side archeology, the island has two enclosures standing stones (cromlec'h) forming two
horseshoes. This enclosure includes two 49 menhirs which 33 are submerged at high tide, highlighting the rising waters from the period of implementation (Neolithic).
In 1926, excavations have uncovered 70 menhirs forming, at the start, the monument.
It can be seen on a small island a high white tower, it served to sailors to follow. We then move the small town of Port Navalo.
Port Navalo left behind us, we here in the Bay of Quiberon, at first, heading 190 ° towards the island of Houat.
Patou explains me how to steer properly its over 10m long catamaran. Red string and twine green, always in the same direction and the horizontal well understood! We take this
opportunity to take turns in order to eat. I prepared a fresh salad and pasta with two to three spices. We also took the kouign-amann bought yesterday for
dessert. I also want to make 2-3 photos of the boat while Patou bar, Charentaises on his feet.
The wind is right, the sun also, I find myself at the end of the day with nice colors. After a while we come to the island of Houat with large rocks around and beautiful
sandy beaches. We go around already and we must consider the way back. Before taking the helm, I take some pictures of Koala Jones gets it off (marine) also on
the ship.
I'm back at the helm, I will not let go over until the end of this little trip on the water. Y and taking pleasure in the eye of Patou, I learned to stay close to the wind, to
take a course or to tack (is to zig-zags with the boat to move in a direction with headwind).
The wind dies, but we're back to Port Navalo. We'll have to go against the current, even if we are at flood tide. In fact, you should know that when oil starts to rise in Port Navalo,
nor shall such that 2 hours later at Valve! Which created a lot of crosscurrents and eddies. So to get back we will have to go against this trend and with a wind which is almost over
now. We argue almost 0.5 knots when we have less wind (less than 1km/h !).
The day begins to decline. Going back to the island of the monks, visible in the distance a bright red boat at anchor:
Shortly before wrapping around one last photo of the view that I often (when I did not ignore the colored string, virtually all the time).
By recovering the mainland, it feels a little pitching (rocking the boat is no longer present, it takes a while to get used to my body, this is called the
''earthsickness''). That night, I know one who will sleep well, it wears to spend a day at sea like that. A busy day and allowed me to discover many things.
I want to thank Patou and CatPat. Previous pageNext page
