You should know that the monkey forest is a park of 24 hectares containing three groups (or families) of Barbary Macaques (also called Barbary apes). The population of monkeys is a little over 130 individuals. Today, two operations were restocking completed, allowing nearly 600 monkeys to return home, in Algeria and Morocco where they are only 14'000 (in 2009) when they were about 28'000 in 1978.
We reach the first clearing where we meet one of three families in the park. There are many young people at least a year together having fun in the bushes along the water point. We can also see many couples and various monkeys stretching.

Then, we go to the second group of monkeys, plus we get during the lunch time. So in addition to information about the monkeys, we see them when they are eating. The guide asks us to find the leader of the group: easy, this one has its head in the bucket of food, and no one to argue with him, it's a monkey in the prime of life. In macaques barabara (like other monkeys), the leader is democratically elected, ie the leader will be the monkey with most other monkeys to support him.
The chef is a real hungry. And while another monkey lounging after dinner, a young rodeo do about his mother. Took him by what might be closer to seasickness, there he jumped down from her mother and went picking strawberries (whole crates thrown).

On our way to the waterfall and the third group of Barbary apes we see, towering over the low wall a monkey. The guide explains that it is because it is a female. Where the Life Expectancy of Barbary apes is 23 years, she has just celebrated its 30th anniversary. She is put here for several years to enjoy a bit of goodies (popcorn) that give visitors. She is still attached to the same group even if she takes a little away the day.

Reached the third and final point of water where their home clans. We see monkeys taking a nap at the top of the waterfall while others finish their meal in the shade.

Starting again to get us too eat, we see a Borie hidden in the bushes. A Borie, also known Bourriote and Garriote is a small shelter for shepherds built in stone of Causse and scattered throughout the region. And a little further distance, we perceive a castle clinging to the cliffside.


We're back on the road but not for very long, after a short distance we come to the restaurant ''Le Roc du Berger'' which is just above Rocamadour. The chef is not one at the base, is a farmer who wanted to discover the products of the region to the many people going to go to Rocamadour. He started with two tables, four bench and a small hut to become what it is now, a large wooden deck and a beautiful large room in wood as well. But it's not because the size of the restaurant was enlarged that the atmosphere or the quality has changed. These are always products of the region and prepared in the state of the art.
